When it came time to replace three of the microscopes in one of The Nebraska Medical Center's clinical laboratories, David Muirhead knew what he wanted to do with them. As director of anatomical pathology at the medical center, Muirhead has been involved for years in the hospital's educational outreach programs. One such program, "Look to the Future," brings school kids in to learn about science and medicine. That's when Muirhead met the kids from Omaha's Pawnee Elementary School. He picked up on their interest in science. Muirhead brought all three microscopes to Mrs. Casart's fourth grade class. The school plans to make the microscopes part of an permanent science center within the school, so that all students will be have the opportunity to learn more about the world around them.
